How far in advance do I need to book an appointment?
At this stage, Jess is unable to take on new clients for regular nail bookings, whilst makeup/wedding dates can book 1-2 years ahead. If you are after an appointment for a special occasion, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible to avoid missing out.
For nail appointments with our Nail Specialists, we ask that any after hour requests be made at least 2 weeks ahead, whilst day time appointments can usually be made about a week in advance. For peak Christmas season (end of November/December), it is best to book appointments at least a month in advance.
Can I bring my child/children to my appointment?
As a beauty/nail studio, we have a lot of equipment as well as retail products that can pose as a risk to young children. If your child is still at an age where he/she is in a pram, we are happy to accomdate providing that your child stays in the pram for the duration of the appointment, as a safety precaution. We are also unable to do your nails/lashes/waxing if your hands are preoccupied, and only want to provide you with the best service we can with a high standard of quality.
If you have young children that are walking, we ask that you only bring them if you need to, and if they are able to sit quietly on one of our waiting chairs or on a mat/blanket. As we are heavily focused on our work (and as we hope you'd be heavily focused on getting some pamper time!) we are unable to keep our eyes on children and due to the amount of fragile items, sharp tools and chemicals in our studio, we hope you can understand our requests.
Do you do acrylics?
We currently do not offer acrylic, hard gel or SNS nail enhancements.
If I got acrylics/extensions done elsewhere, will you paint over them with nail art?
We do not paint over acrylics or any other nail enhancements done elsewhere. We love working with our clients natural nail. We would also have less control over quality and hygeine practices of the other nail technician/s if finishing work that is done elsewhere. With nail art, we also can end up painting many coats of gel polish, therefore any enhacements underneath the polish will cause the nails to look too thick.
Can you remove my current acrylics, hard gels or SNS nails?
The files we use for gel polish are extremely light, and are more like buffers than coarse files, therefore we are unable to remove acrylics or hard gels. We are able to remove SNS nails, however please let us know prior to your appointment so we can allocate extra time.
Do you use regular nail polish?
All our nails are done using gel polish on natural nails only. We don't use regular polish as it doesn't work with our nail art and processes. We do offer "naked" manicures and pedicures.
What is gel polish?
Gel polish, also commonly referred to as Shellac (which is basically a brand name, like Band-Aid!) applies similar to regular nail polish, but is set, or "cured" under a LED or UV lamp. The lamo sets the product instantly, which means you don't have to worry about it smudging as soon as you get your keys out of your handbag!
How long does gel polish last?
Everyone is different, and the longevity of your gel polish depends on your lifestyle and aftercare. Our clients sets generally last between 2-4 weeks on average, whilst we have seen some sets last 6-9 weeks (no chips, just regrowth). We chat to all our clients about their lifestyle and advise them on the best aftercare practices.
Are your makeup services mobile?
We can travel free of charge to anywhere within the Canberra region providing the booking includes at least 3 faces. Bridal trials and event makeup for 2 or less people are done from our studio.
Do you travel interstate for wedding makeup?
Yes, we do travel interstate for wedding makeup. Travel outside of the Canberra region incurs a travel surcharge - please contact us directly for a quote.
How do I secure a booking for my wedding/bridal party makeup?
For brides, a trial is highly recommend to ensure we can get your makeup to be exactly how you want it on the day. Once a trial is booked, we will tentatively hold your wedding date for you. Only then if you are 100% happy with your trial makeup, we require a 50% deposit of the total makeup booking to secure the date.
How far in advance do you book for weddings?
Our wedding makeup jobs can start booking up 1-1.5 years in advance, so it's never too early to enquire!
In Canberra, the wedding season usually starts in September, and goes through to early May. Just remember there are only 4 weekends a month, and like your venue and photographer, there is only one of your chosen makeup artist, and like other professionals we are unable to do more than one wedding in a day.
